Relief print roulettes

I offer a wide range of roller burrs for relief print, but the texture of the burr is what primarily defines the final effect on the plate and, consequently, in the print.

Four different textures are available:

  • Thick spikes, in coarse, medium, and fine grains (various sizes and shapes available, see below).
  • Fine spikes, in medium grain (only one size and shape available).

The shape of the burr depends on the type and size of the plate:

  • Ball shape, ideal for relief printing, available in 8mm (precision), 12mm (standard), and 25mm (maxi, only for the maxi roller handle).
  • Egg shape, better suited for intaglio printing, available in 10mm (standard) and 18mm (maxi, only for the maxi roller handle).

Choosing the Right Burr:

  • For relief printing only, prioritize a round burr with coarse-grain thick spikes, then medium, then fine.
  • For both relief and intaglio printing, prioritize an egg-shaped burr with fine grain, then medium, then coarse.
  • The fine spikes with medium grain are a versatile option suitable for all techniques.

Inking Recommendations:

Proper inking requires a gradual approach, applying a thin layer of ink on the roller and slowly building up the blacks. For best results, use a glass plate for inking and a high-quality inking roller in perfect condition.
