Here you will find the "precision" burnishers. Start by selecting a handle, each handle is available with 2 types of stones (agate or hematite) and 7 stone shapes
- classic conical shape
- classic pointed cone shape
- pointed cone "flat end" (mainly to produce white lines in mezzotint)
- pointed cone "truncated 1mm" or "truncated 2mm". The flat truncated part allows to have a good polishing surface and a polishing without wave or irregular line, while being precise. Less natural to use than the curved shape. Perfect for accurate correction and gradients.
- curved shapes (thin or large, but hematite are larger than agate). Very comfortable and natural shape to use, easy polishing. For correction and gradients. For ergonomic, I think short handles are preferable (available here)
On a metal plate, hematite gives the feeling of less slipping and being softer than agate. It seems that in printing, one can get better whites with hematite than agate. But hematite is more brittle than agate.
