Comparison of tip sharpness

The grinding of my tips is done by using traditional methods to obtain the finest possible finish. The grinding of high-speed steel (HSS) and carbide tips is similar, but being of a different material the carbide tip will be more durable and more flexible for drawing.

One can also compare a carbon tip (already used for several copper engravings) with a commercial standard dry-point tip (used only for etchings).
